JAJEONGGUKJON MONUMENT

The Beopjusa Jajeong Gukjon Monument was to commemorate Jajeong Gukjon, monk in the late Koryeo dynasty.
It was carved in the 3rd year of king Chunghae (1342). It was built by, first, cutting off the surface of natural rock as rectangular form, and by carving the figure of the monk. At the bottom of the body figure, the epitaph is shown. Part of the lower part of the figure is broken away.

Jajeong Gukjon whose family name was Kim served as chief priests of big temples, and was conferred with the title of Bomyeong Daesa. The monument is a granite figure 2.13m high and 1,07m wide.
